Satellite Challenge (Grades 7-12)
Create Your Own Satellite Challenge: Teens: You don't need to be a rocket scientist to create your own model satellite--that can win you a real telescope! Register by emailing agerber@northbrunswicklibrary.org. Then watch the instructional video any time between October 17 and October 31, create your own satellite, and enter it in our contest by November 30. The stars can be yours!

*Watercolor Tips & Techniques with April Zay (video): Learn some tips and tricks for making vibrant watercolor pictures. This in-depth video will cover basic brush techniques, creating a color wheel, painting a sunset, and even show detailed work painting seashells. Perfect for beginning or emerging artists. *Upcycle a Switch Plate and Outlet Cover Using Alcohol Ink: Join Librarian, Barbara in person for this quick craft. We will be using Sharpies and rubbing alcohol to create a beautiful one-of-a-kind switch plate and outlet cover. Supplies included. August Program Descriptions
Alphabet Soup (ages 3-5): Music, story, and activity that celebrates a different letter each week.
STEAM Club (ages 10-12): STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities for elementary age children.
Story Tots (6-36 months): Music, movement, stories, and rhymes for younger children.
Sleepy Tales (ages 3-12): Bedtime stories and lullabies to get children cozy and ready to sleep. Wear your pjs and bring a blanket or stuffed animal friend! On August 25th, this program will be in person and combined with Creature Comforts.
Read to a Therapy Dog (ages 6-12): Creature Comforts therapy dogs will visit the library. On August 25th, this program is combined with Sleepy Tales.
Pre-K Storytime (ages 3-5): Storytime and songs for preschool age children.
Game Night (ages 6-12): Card games, board games, memory games, word games, and more.
Crafty Kids (various ages): Crafts and related activities for specific age groups.
Peaceful Frogs (various ages): Yoga and movement for specific age groups.
Sharks and Oceans Rock (ages 4-12): Dinosaurs Rock presents a mini exhibit on sharks and the ocean, including take home souvenirs. Registration required, email Miss Val to reserve a spot.
Under the Sea Move and Groove (ages 6 and under): Miss Jolie will be leading a singing and dancing party for younger children. Registration required, email Miss Val to reserve a spot.
Pirates Lost at Sea (ages 4-12): TaleWise presents pirate themed skits and hands on science experiments. Registration required, email Miss Val to reserve a spot.
Back to School (grades 1-5): Mobile Family Success Center is giving out free backpacks and school supplies. Middlesex County’s Health department is handing out information on required immunizations for the school district. Registration required.

Blackout Poetry contest
Blackout Poetry: Give blackout poetry a try to come up with your very own poem! Discarded book pages are available on the display shelf across from the Reference Desk throughout April with instructions and examples. If you would like to share your Blackout Poetry, please complete the online form and upload your page to https://tinyurl.com/NOBRPoetryMonth2022.
Your poem will be displayed on the windows of the library, as well as on our website & social media during April. You will also be entered in a raffle to win a $50 gift card from our local neighborhood pizza Cristo’s!
