Repairs and renovations to the Middlesex County Hospital for the Chronically Ill should be completed next week, according to the county welfare board which administers the North Brunswick facility.
Mrs. Mary Hollis, director of the welfare department, said all that remains of the renovation. program is to paint the interior and install some doors.
The county had been under a May 15 deadline to renovate the hospital at Routes 1-130 traffic circle, but obtained a second extension until July.
The renovations were ordered to make the hospital con form with state standards for medical institutions which receive Medicaid payments.
Had the renovations not been completed as prescribed by the state, the hospital would have lost up to $300,000 in federal Medicaid money. That either would have forced its closing or required that the county make up the $300,000 deficit.
