Planting trees at the drive-in

2/25/73 -

In these days when bickering and animosity seem so prevalent in public affairs, it is pleasant. to see the Brunswick Drive-in and North Brunswick township arriving at an amicable settlement of a difficult situation.

The outdoor theater had been showing X and R rated films, which unfortunately were viewed on its screen by motorists passing along Route 1. The township had proposed an ordinance to give the theater the option of giving up the films or providing an effective barrier against viewing them from Route 1. At this point, William Kalman agreed not to show such films until he got the barrier up.  Now, with the state Senate prohibiting the showing of X  and R films if they are visible from outside the confines of a theater. Kalman is proceeding with a barrier
project .

And Kalman has chosen to plant 30 or 40 20-foot evergreens as a barrier. Which suits the township committee just fine.  And which we will be sure will be much more attractive than a high fence.
